Which demographic is more susceptible to Grass Allergy?
Locations that are abundant to different species of grasses are more susceptible to grass allergy. Over 1,200 species of grass are abundantly growing in North America, although only a small percentage of these actually causes grass allergy. The most common grasses that can cause allergies are as follows:
- Bermuda grass;
- Johnson grass;
- Kentucky bluegrass;
- Orchard grass;
- Sweet vernal grass; and
- Timothy grass.
In addition, the season of the year in a certain location also affects the spread of grass allergy. Often, grass pollens can spread widely on dry and windy weather condition such as summer and spring. Pollen levels are also affected by the time of the day and the rain.
